Little Adam’s Peak (also called Punchi Sri Pada) is one of the most popular short and scenic hikes in Ella, offering breathtaking views of tea plantations, waterfalls, and rolling hills. Unlike the more challenging Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada), this hike is easy to moderate, making it perfect for all fitness levels.

Hike to the mountain peak is a fairly easy hike. The path way is marked by sign boards so it`s easy to find your way. Can find lots of local and international visitors here as it is very popular among tourists! We can expect to meet many people from all over the world on this journey.

The Little Adam`s Peak is named after the holy mountain Adam`s Peak, because of the similar appearance. Adam’s Peak also known as – Sri Pada, is located in the central highlands of Sri Lanka, near the town of Dalhousie (Nallathanniya) and 7,559 feet (2,304 meters) high. It is a challenging climb!

The path up the peak of Little Adam`s Peak is easy to find and is marked by sign boards showing the way.

There you meet 4 peaks and viewpoints at the top of the mountain range. the first and second peaks are at your reach. One is at your right side (when you stand facing to the Ella Rock) with an easy climb. There you find a Buddha Statue (might not available sometimes).

On your left-hand side after a little climb, you will meet the second view point with the most famous protrusive rock.

After the second view point there is a precipice leading to the next peak and the view point.

After a challenging climb, you can reach there. It is more dangerous and slippery. But it is an awesome experience if you are fit enough to reach. You can locate the Rawana Falls in a distance.

When you stand facing to the West, you can see one of the most challenging hikes in SL-the Ella Rock.

In the valley the most famous Ella-Wellawaya A-23 main road. From your left-hand side, the Southern province borders.

Behind you at the bottom of the mountain the villages are available. There you see the  cascade rice fields.

Top of the peak sometimes you can find the locals who sell fruit juice/king coconut etc.

How to Get to Little Adam’s Peak?

Starting Point: The trail begins near Ella Flower Garden Resort (just 3 km from Ella town).

Or through the path via 98 Acres Hotel.

Transport Options:

  • Tuk-tuk (5-10 mins from Ella town, cost: ~LKR 500-800)
  • Walk (30-40 mins from Ella town, scenic route through tea fields)

Tips for Hiking Little Adam’s Peak

✔ Wear comfortable shoes (some rocky & uneven steps).

✔ Carry water & sunscreen (limited shade at the top).

✔ Visit early to avoid crowds & midday heat.

✔ Extend your hike to Ella Rock (more challenging) or Nine Arches Bridge (nearby).
